We ask Blue Braid members to participate thoughtfully and respectfully, using these guidelines:

  • Assume that not all minority identifications are visible. There may be a person of color, an LGBTQ person, an immigrant, or a person with disabilities in the room, whether you are aware of them or not. Refrain from making statements that may hurt any group of people.
  • Assume that everyone in the room is trying to behave with respect and empathy toward those speaking and listening.
  • If you tend to speak a lot, stay quiet for a night. If you tend to keep silent, try speaking up about something that matters to you.
  • If you find yourself riled up, try taking a few breaths before speaking.

What other guidelines will help us make the most of our Blue Braid evenings? Please submit your ideas in the comments.
